...Dogs are derived from wolf and wolf is not the big bad guy that the fairy tales make him out to be. Wolf is gentle and very family orientated; he is also very protective of his personal space. Dogs are far enough removed from wolf for them to be more domesticated but the basic instinct of the original pack animal is still there...



...Dogs are pack animals and they understand pack rules. That doesn't mean they should be handled with dominance and they certainly shouldn't be made submissive, nor should they be scruffed, squirted, 'eyeballed', have rattling objects thrown at them, or any other of the 'techniques' flying around the dog world, It simply means they need parenting. Dogs need to feel protected, they need to know that their leader/parent figure/handler can handle any situation that arises and they also need to know about consequences...
